Belgium delegation meets Rawat

Belgium Ambassador to India Jan Luykx, along with their trade councillors, met Uttarakhand Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat here today. 

The Belgium delegation discussed capital investment proposals and proposed technical assistance in various fields in the state. The Uttarakhand Chief Secretary, the Principal Secretary, Industry, the Secretary, Tourism, and other senior officials of the state government were also present.

Welcoming the four major proposals regarding technical assistance to Dehradun Smart City development, clean Ganga, renewable energy, particularly solar energy, and food processing, especially cold storage chain setting offered by the Belgium delegation, Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat asked the officials to set up a joint working group to work out the investment projects between Belgium and Uttarakhand. The Chief Minister said the state government was keen to promote agro-based industries and plantation of aromatic plants across the state.

Chief Secretary S Ramaswamy said there was immense potential for capital investment in Uttarakhand due to crucial factors that included nearness to the national capital of Delhi, good environment, good law and order situation, cheap and uninterrupted electricity supply, transparent governance and administration, good connectivity, human resource availability and a single-window system.

The Belgium Ambassador showed interest in investments in water purification, technical assistance to clean Ganga and Smart City, food processing, spice, herbal and aromatic plantation and food processing.
