The song Tung Tung may have risen to the front-burner of popularity with MTV’s show, Sound Tripping, hosted by Sneha Khanwalkar with Nooran Sisters singing it originally, but there seems to be a latest addition to this picture-perfect frame of Tung Tung! Make way for Diljit Dosanjh, as he joins the brigade while taking the song to Bollywood with the movie Singh is Bliing. As we hear the sound of it far away from the geri route, we bring in a few notes from those who are taking quite fondly to the song.

Voice of the people

Sound note

I like the song. It is really interesting, but I do miss Nooran Sisters’ voice here. The sound of their voice is more powerful, but that’s not to say that Diljit’s not done justice to the song. I feel it sounds equally good.

Karan Verma, musician

Happy feel

The song is really peppy and has a lot of energy to it. I love the music. It has a lot of verve and energy, which is exciting.

Amarinder Singh, Student, CGC, Landran

Repeat mode

I like the song very much. It has been playing in my car for over a week now and the fact that it sounds so good is all the more reason to play it on repeat. I also love the video.

Hit List

Well, Patiala Peg from Diljit Dosanjh and Tung Tung’s original version by Nooran sisters is a must listen and we strongly advocate it!

The Nooran Sisters belong to Jalandhar, Punjab, and are very rooted in their linguistic and musical traditions. Jyoti and Sultana come from a family of musicians. The girls have been trained in the field of traditional ‘Sufi music’ for the past of 10 years by their father Ustad Gulshan Mir, son of famous late Ustad Sohan Lal. They recently sang for Coke studio too.

Meanwhile, the Patiala Peg boy Diljit Dosanjh is a Punjabi singer and actor. Born in a small village in Punjab, Dosanjh is today a renowned singer-actor who has given hits like Jatt & Juliet. His first recorded mainstream performance was a solo track and music video Ishq Da Uda Ada from his 2000 album produced by Finetone Cassettes. Sneha Khanwalkar is a music director who is best known for her score for the film, Oye Lucky! Lucky Oye! and also for Gangs of Wasseypur Part 1 as well as Part 2. She had been nominated in Best Music Director category at the 58th Filmfare Awards for Gangs of Wasseypur Part 1 and Part 2 (credited as music director of Gangs of Wasseypur). She is only the second woman to gain a nomination in this category 28 years after Usha Khanna.
