Rewari, October 23

The Manohar Lal Khattar-led BJP government has not succeeded in living up to the expectations of the people of the district as far as basic amenities are concerned.

As usual, Rewari has been crying for adequate electricity and potable water, modern heath care facility, proper drainage and roadways buses. On the other hand, considerable improvement in the condition of roads has been witnessed in the two years of the BJP government.

Setting up of an AIIMS-like institute in Manethi, construction of Rewari bypass, trauma centre and a bus stand in Bawal, veterinary hospitals in Nangal Mundi and Nimoth, government boys college in Rewari city, law college in Bhakli and nursing college in Sadatnagarh are some major announcements that are yet to be fulfilled.

Residents of Dhaaruhera town are still facing the problem of accumulation of chemical waste discharged by industrial units in the neighbouring Bhiwadi town (Rajasthan), while the rising cases of extortion and loot have also caused a sense of insecurity among people, especially traders.

“People of Ahirwal are not satisfied with the BJP government’s performance yet, as it has failed to keep its promise of redressing the problem of drinking water, electricity, drainage and health care facilities,” said Ranbir Yadav, general secretary of the Dakshin Haryana Vikas Lok Manch.

Satish Joshi, a retired officer, said corruption had reduced to a large extent, especially in tehsil and other offices pertaining to public dealing after launching of online services.

Ved Prakash Vidrohi, president, Gramin Bharat, said the BJP had given nothing to Ahirwal except making hollow announcements during the past two years.

“Discrimination is also being committed with the region by not setting up AIIMS, government boys degree and engineering college here, while all development projects in Karnal are being executed at a fast pace,” said Vidrohi.

Satish Khola, state convener of the BJP’s profession cell, said all main roads had been made concrete and a survey was being conducted for the Rewari bypass. Besides, encroachments had been removed from main markets.
