Rewari, November 18

Haryana Pradesh Congress Committee (HPCC) chief Ashok Tanwar has accused the BJP and the INLD of playing politics over the SYL canal issue. After the Supreme Court’s verdict on the presidential reference on the SYL canal, the ball was now in the court of the Central Government which should ensure proper execution of the verdict so that Haryana could get its legitimate share in the Ravi-Beas waters, said Tanwar. He was interacting with mediapersons on the sidelines of ‘Rezang La Shaurya Samman Samaroh’ organised by former minister Ajay Singh Yadav in Rezang La Park here today.

The samaroh was organised in memory of those who sacrificed their lives during the Indo-China war at Rezang La Post in Ladakh in 1962. Their widows belonging to Mahendragarh, Rewari, Gurgaon and Mewat districts were also honoured on the occasion.

Former Bihar Chief Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav, who was the chief guest of the samaroh, could not come due to sudden illness. Even Rajya Sabha MP Kumari Sailja did not attend the function. RJD MP Bolu Mandal participated in the function as a representative of Lalu Yadav .

“The SC has assigned responsibility to the central government for getting its verdict executed over the SYL canal issue ” said Tanwar, adding that the SC had every time given its judgment in favour of Haryana on the SYL issue but the BJP and the INLD played politics each time to serve their political interests.

CLP leader Kiran Choudhry said after becoming the PM, Modi had promised the nation to give employment to 2.5 crore youths every year but nothing was done so far.

DC invokes Section 144

Sonepat: Taking notice of the calls given by sarv khap panchayats and political leaders for blocking the railway lines and roads to disconnect Punjab from Delhi if water through the SYL canal was not released, District Magistrate KM Pandurang has promulgated a prohibitory order under Section 144 of the CrPC within the revenue limits of the district.
