Chandigarh: A bakery in Mani Majra was challaned for operating without a licence during a raid here today. The raid was conducted by a team of Food Safety Officer Bhaljinder Singh under the supervision of Dr Tapasya Raghav, SDM East. The team raided bakeries running in Mani Majra, Chandigarh. During the drive, a ‘mathi’ bakery was found running at 93/32 Gobindpura, Mani Majra, without an FSSAI licence. A challan was issued to the owner, Atik Ahmed, on the spot. In addition to this, sample of flour (maida) being used to prepare ‘mathis’ was taken and has been sent to a laboratory. Items were also destroyed at two other bakeries running in unhygienic conditions. Raghav said the drive was conducted to check illegal bakeries running without licence in residential areas and would be continued in the coming days also. — TNS
