Bail pleas of Doda, nephew rejected

A court here on Friday rejected the plea for regular bail submitted by liquor baron and former SAD Abohar halqa incharge Shiv Lal Doda and his nephew Amit, prime accused in the Bhim Tank murder case.

Additional District and Sessions Judge Lachhman Singh, who had listened to the arguments of the counsels for the accused and prosecution yesterday, pronounced the decision today.

Bhim Tank’s mother Kaushalya Devi and attack survivor Gurjant Singh Janta were also present in the court.

Sources said that the affected families presented the photographs related to the Ramsara farmhouse killing to show how the limbs of the victim were chopped off on December 11 last year. The court rejected the pleas for regular bail to Shiv Lal and Amit Doda.

However, the bail pleas of two other accused Vicky Vij and Ashwani alias Happy Sharma, both former employees of Dodas, were allowed by the court.

Shiv Lal Doda had surrendered before SSP Fazilka on January 22 after the Punjab and Haryana High Court denied him anticipatory bail.

Doda and Amit were booked as alleged conspirators in the murder. Bhim was allegedly invited on behalf of his former employers for negotiations over some dispute, but he and his associate Gurjant were attacked by the henchmen of the Dodas at the farm house owned by the liquor baron.
