Baba Farid University of Health Sciences (BFUHS) has decided to conduct special exams for about 1,500 students of various batches of Gian Sagar Medical College, Banur, as the academic and practical studies of these students was affected in the past six months after financial crises hit the college.

After a meeting with the Chief Minister and Health Minister, the Department of Medical Education and Research (DMER) and BFUHS on Wednesday decided to conduct special exams for the affected students after making good the loss of their academic activities.

BFUHS will start the annual and supplementary theory exams for MBBS courses of different batches in the first week of May. However, all students of various batches of Gian Sagar Medical College will be exempted from these exams and there would be special exams for them after they make up for the academic loss with extra classes in the new colleges, said Dr Raj Bahadur, Vice Chancellor, BFUHS.

DMER and BFUHS had also started working on a roadmap to shift these students to various medical colleges, said Vikas Partap, secretary, DMER.

Due to the crisis in the college, all academic activity has been suspended. So it has been decided that after shifting these students to other medical colleges and arranging extra classes for them in the new colleges, the BFUHS will conduct special exams for them.
