Ayurvedic doctors, owing allegiance to the Prantiya Ayurvedic Evam Yunani Sangh, today held a march to the Secretariat in support of their demands.

They have been on a relay sit-in outside the Directorate office for the past two days. They intensified their protest today, marching towards the Secretariat. They submitted a memorandum addressed to Chief Minister Harish Rawat.

They were demanding the implementation of DACP (Dynamic Assured Career Progression), implementation of non-practising allowance (NPA) and restructuring of Ayurvedic services.

Dr Hardev Singh Rawat, general secretary of the association, said Ayurvedic doctors were being meted out step-motherly treatment. “The demand for the NPA and the DACP has been pending for several years now, but the government has not paid any heed,” he said.

They also rued lack of expansion of Ayurvedic services and teaching in colleges of the state.

Dr JN Nautiyal said the Ayush wings, set up in government allopathic hospitals, were burdened with patients. “If they too join the stir, medical care will come to a standstill,” he said.
