President awards SKIMS scientist

Senior scientist of the Advanced Centre for Human Genetics, Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS), Dr Arshad Ahmad Pandith has been honoured with a national award for his contribution to science by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, 2014, by the President at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi.

Senior scientist of the Advanced Centre for Human Genetics, Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS), Dr Arshad Ahmad Pandith has been honoured with a national award for his contribution to science by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, 2014, by the President at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi.

Director, SKIMS, Dr Showkat A Zargar, congratulating the doctor said, “SKIMS is proud of Dr Arshad. The award comes as recognition to his contribution in the field of cancer research and genetic disease diagnostic services at SKIMS.”

Dr Arshad did his PhD in immunology and molecular medicine/cancer biology from SKIMS University. Besides many awards to his credit, Dr Arshad has authored a book, “Incidence and role of proto-oncogenes in bladder cancer in Kashmiri population”. — OC
