Ludhiana, January 27

Ludhiana Cares Ladies Society took a step forward on Republic Day to make the city cleaner.

More than 80 members of the club including professional artistes and contributors painted graffiti at the city railway station.

Harleen Sona, a professional artist, said it was a little step taken by the society to make Ludhiana cleaner and a better place to live.

An amateur artist said railway station walls have been made so dirty by spitting that one feels repulsive after looking at them.

“We want to make people feel good looking at beautiful walls giving them a message to keep the city clean instead of turning their heads in other direction,” she said.

Mayor Harcharan Singh Gohalwaria was also present on the occasion and tried his hand at the brush. “The work undertaken by the society needs to be appreciated. We are trying to provide world class structure to the people and it becomes their responsibility to take care of it and do not spoil it. The society is doing work in the right direction,” he added.
