Artificial limbs, wheel chairs given to 349

HARIDWAR: As many as 757 artificial limbs, wheel chairs and related accessories were distributed among 349 specially-abled persons by Shri Panchayati Akhada Bada Udasin here today.

As many as 757 artificial limbs, wheel chairs and related accessories were distributed among 349 specially-abled persons by Shri Panchayati Akhada Bada Udasin here today.

The free distribution camp was organised with the cooperation of Indian Railway Finance Corporation Limited and Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation of India, Kanpur.

Among the equipment donated were 178 tri-cycles,16 wheel chairs, 96 crutches,14 walking sticks, 25 hearing aid machines, 132 leprosy kits, nine smart cellular phones and 20 calipers.

City Magistrate Jai Bharat Singh, in presence of Shri Mahant Maheshwar Das of the Akhada, distributed the equipment. Jai Bharat Singh said service to the needy was like worshipping to the Almighty and urged people to donate for such charity causes on regular basis.

Shri Mahant Maheswar Das said Bada Akhada Udasin not only catered to the spiritual-religious aspects but also to social charity works.

From distributing warm clothes and blankets to the needy in winters to providing relief aid to affected people in disaster prone areas, the Akhada saints had been contributing to the society regularly, he stated.

Kothari Mahant Mohan Das Maharaj said working for the poor, needy and differently-abled was a noble service.

Shri Mahant Raghu Muni and Shri Mahant Durga Das said the Akhada would continue working for such charity causes in the near future also.

Parvatiya Viklang Sewa Sansthan director Gulshan Bahari shed light on the works being done by the organisation.

Social activist Jagdeesh Lal Pahwa, saints Maha Mandaleshwar Bhagwat Swarup, Dr Swami Shyam Sundar Das Shastri, Sukhdev Muni, Jayendra Muni, Surendra Muni, Kamal Das, Prakash Muni, Swami Dinesh Shastri, Swami Chatur Das, Damodar Das and Mahant Sharan Das also blessed the divyangs on the occasion.
