Jind, December 09

ITI students locked the main gate of their institute to protest against the implementation of semester system and negative marking and took out a procession in the city.

They also submitted a memorandum to the Jind SDM in support of their grievances.

The agitators assembled at the main gate and demanded rechecking of their papers as their poor result was on account of the newly introduced semester system and negative marking. The government has introduced the new system without revising their syllabus. They are compelled to complete a year’s syllabus within six months which was impossible.

“Last year the government imposed the semester system in all the ITIs without taking any feedback from students or teachers. More than 90 per cent students have failed as they could not prepare for the exams at such short notice. The negative marking was introduced without any changes in syllabus, “alleged SFI district vice chief, Neeraj.

They also warned that a state level agitation would be launched if the government fails to meet their demands. Earlier they marched through Patiala chowk, Sabzi Mandi, Batak Chowk, Safidon gate, Rani Talab and the bus stand.
