The Ardh Kumbh mela force today cleaned the Ganga canal, which is dry owing to the annual canal closure for maintenance and repair of ghats.

Led by DIG, Ardh Kumbh, Ganesh Singh Martolia and SSP, Ardh Kumbh, Jagat Ram Joshi, the personnel collected garbage, polythene bags, plastic material and religious items stuck in the middle and the banks of ghats.

SP, Ardh Kumbh security, Amit Shrivastava said as the Ardh Kumbh fair was to be held at these ghats in the Har-ki-Pauri mela zone, the personnel were also given information about the major paths, alternative routes, lanes, ashrams, dharamshalas, the canal and major points along the ghats where they would be deployed during the four-month fair.

Shweta Chaubey, SP (Traffic), Ardh Kumbh, said the mela force personnel were being trained in varied aspects and the voluntary Ganga cleaning drive.
