Ludhiana, December 24

The online expression series, to be conducted by CBSE, has caused confusion amongst students of schools affiliated with the CBSE. As the government plans to celebrate Good Governance Day on the occasion of the birth anniversary of former PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee on December 25, students are confused about the online ‘Expression Series on Good Governance’ to be conducted on a holiday.

Even though the participation is voluntary, but still some students are unhappy about the series. “I had never missed any activity and expression series so far, but unfortunately, it is being conducted on Christmas, the day I go out and enjoy with my parents,” said Lovedeep.

“This is strange that the expression series is being conducted on a holiday,” said another student.

“I wanted to participate and submit my essay so that I don’t need to participate on Christmas, but I was surprised to find that even the links on the CBSE website will be functioning on December 25. I can’t understand why only one day was kept for the series, particularly as it is a holiday,” said Harpreet, a class VIII student.

The expression series is open for three categories. The first category includes Classes from I to V, second from Classes VI to VIII and third from Classes IX to XII. While the 36 best entries in each category will be awarded with a cash prize of Rs 2,000, the certificate of merit will be given only after plagiarism check and an interaction on the phone states the circular.

Even teachers are not happy with the test on the holiday. “Several students will be busy with Chrismas celebrations as it is a vital part of their family, but strangely, the test is being conducted on this day,” said a teacher of a convent school, on the condition of anonymity. “There should have been at least couple of days for the participation in the series,” she added.
