Bus hits underbridge, woman injured

KHANNA: A woman was injured while some others sustained minor injuries as an over speeding bus of a private bus company collided with a wall of an underbridge on the GT road at Khanna.

A woman was injured while some others sustained minor injuries as an over speeding bus of a private bus company collided with a wall of an underbridge on the GT road at Khanna.

The injured has been identified as Anjlina (33), a resident of Khera village. As a result of the collision, the front portion of the bus was badly damaged.

Anjlina alleged that the driver was driving the bus at a fast speed. She said the bus collided with the underbridge when the driver was trying to overtake a canter.

Later in the evening, Anjlina was referred to DMC, Ludhiana, with severe injury.

The additional SHO, Jaswinder Singh Sadar, Khanna, said they had impounded the bus and had taken driver and conductor of the bus into custody. He said they are yet to register a case in this regard as they have not taken the statement of the injured yet.
