Woman, daughter held for fraud

Ludhiana, December 22

The police have arrested a mother-daughter duo for duping a person of Rs 6.5 lakh on the pretext of sending him abroad.

The complainant, Sukhdev Singh, a resident of New Subash Nagar, said the duo assured him a job at Cyprus and took Rs 6.5 lakh to get the work done.

The police have registered a case under Sections 406 and 420 of the Indian Penal Code against Rekha and her mother Manjit Kaur.

Truck driver booked

A day after a youth died in a road mishap near Chandigarh Road, the police today registered a case against the unidentified truck driver.

The case was registered on the complaint of Ashok Mishra, a resident of Moti Nagar.

The complainant stated that he, along with his cousin Abhishek, were going to a market when a truck hit Abhishek’s bike near Dashmesh Dairy.

The truck driver parked the vehicle at a distance and fled the spot.

Abhishek was from Bihar. He had come to the city to meet his relatives.
