Another dengue case reported from city

CHANDIGARH: A fresh dengue case was reported in the city today, taking the tally of the city to 24.

A fresh dengue case was reported in the city today, taking the tally of the city to 24. According to health officials, the patient is from Sarangpur.

Earlier, on September 3, two dengue cases were reported from the city. The patients were said to be from Sector 15, Chandigarh, and one from Mauli Jagran.

Notably, two dengue deaths were reported in the city last month.

A steady rise in the number of cases has created panic among city residents.

“There is a need for awareness among residents as not all fever cases and dengue-like symptoms are actually dengue. A majority are viral cases. However, in case any symptoms surface, one must immediately see a health care provider,” Dr Gaurav Aggarwal, Nodal Officer, Malaria Wing, UT Health Department, said.

Aggarwal, who is the in charge of the UT Health Department’s 24x7 dengue helpline number 9779558282, has been receiving calls from all of north India.
