Angry guest teachers burn Dhankar’s effigy in Karnal

Continuing with their series of protest, the guest teachers today took out a procession in the city and burnt the effigy of Agriculture Minister Om Parkash Dhankar at the Committee chowk here this evening.

They raised slogans against the government and demanded the withdrawal of cases lodged against their colleagues.

Jarnail Singh, district executive president, said that the state has betrayed them as BJP leaders had promised to regularise their posts during the Assembly elections but nothing had been done so far.

He alleged that they were cane charged while they were protesting in Karnal and 44 guest teachers had been arrested. The FIR should be cancelled, he added. They would gherao the Education Minister in Mahendergarh on May 31, he said.
