Punjab Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh has felicitated the labour and working class on the occasion of May Day, which symbolises the historic struggle of the labour class globally.

In a message on the eve of May Day, the Chief Minister urged the workers and labourers to mark the occasion with the pledge to fight for, and protect, their rights. “Let us not simply observe the occasion for the sake of propriety. Let us vow to imbue the spirit of the day into our systems to safeguard the rights of the workers and labourers, who make a significant contribution to our lives,” he added.

The Chief Minister also paid rich tributes to all those who had sacrificed their lives for the struggle to secure genuine service conditions at Chicago in 1886.
