Chandigarh, December 25

The Congress will declare its remaining 40 candidates for the elections in the New Year. Punjab Congress chief Capt Amarinder Singh indicated this at a press meet here today.

“So far, 77 seats have been announced. There is no delay on our part. It takes time for the Central Election Committee to decide candidates for six states. We are hopeful that the remaining names are announced in a week,” he said.

On the seats decided so far, Amarinder claimed he had complete say in picking the candidates.

On former Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda’s remark that he would campaign for the Congress only if the PPCC president gave an assurance on the SYL canal, Amarinder said there was no question of sharing riverwaters when Punjab had no surplus. “He can or cannot come. It’s his wish,” Amarinder said.\
