All set for Hemkund Sahib yatra

The Hemkund Sahib Management Trust has made all preparations for the Hemkund Sahib yatra beginning from June 1. Chief Minister Harish Rawat will flag off the yatra from Govind Ghat on May 31.

In a statement issued here today, Hemkund Sahib Management Trust vice president Narendrajeet Singh Bindra said all necessary ration and other items had been sent to the Hemkund Sahib gurdwara and other gurdwaras en route to it to ensure a comfortable yatra for the pilgrims.

Bindra said all accommodations and other infrastructure that was destroyed in the natural disaster in 2013 had been reconstructed and renovated. The state government was rendering all support and the Chief Minister had visited Govind Ghat on May 25 to oversee the preparations for the yatra. Garhwali delicacies would also be served to the pilgrims, he added.

Bindra said pilgrims hade also been asked to desist from travelling in heavy vehicles keeping in mind the safety aspect in the circuitous roads in the mountains.
