Uttarakhand Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat on Monday said his government would soon start air ambulance service as part of its efforts to provide better healthcare services to the people living in remote hilly areas of the state.

After inaugurating the 66th National Conference of Anatomical Society of India at AIIMS, Rishikesh, he said the institute here had increased its capacity to 900 beds in just six years and introduced several facilities, reducing the pressure on AIIMS, Delhi, by 30 per cent.

“It has always been our effort to provide better treatment facilities to people in the remote areas. The air ambulance service, which is going to be launched soon, will be a step in that direction,” Rawat said.

Showering praise on AIIMS, Rishikesh, he thanked the faculty and staff of the institute for being ever-ready to extend a helping hand to the state government in providing medical care to the affected people in crisis in the disaster-prone state. — PTI
