Ahead of PM’s Amritsar visit, SPG takes stock of security

AMRITSAR: Ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to the city on March 23, a team of Special Protection Group (SPG) today visited the Golden Temple, the Durgiana Temple and the Jallianwala Bagh to take stock of the security arrangements.

Ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to the city on March 23, a team of Special Protection Group (SPG) today visited the Golden Temple, the Durgiana Temple and the Jallianwala Bagh to take stock of the security arrangements.

Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh is also scheduled to visit the Attari-Wagah joint check post (JCP) on March 22. He will lay the foundation stone for the expansion of the visitors’ gallery at the JCP.

Senior police officials, headed by Additional Director General of Police (law and order) Dinkar Gupta are making the security arrangements. The SPG team is headed by Deputy Inspector General (DIG) SS Srivastav. The team along with Deputy Commissioner Ravi Bhagat and Police Commissioner Jatinder Aulakh visited the three venues.

The PM would land at Sri Guru Ram Dass Ji International Airport at 12.30pm. He would reportedly first go to Hussainiwala to pay tributes to Bhagat Singh. On his return, he would visit the Golden Temple, the Jallianwala Bagh and the Durgiana Temple.
