Jammu, November 17

Daily wagers, who are on a strike for the past 66 days, today said a delegation led by union president Tanveer Hussain held a second round of talks with Union ministers at New Delhi on Wednesday.

During the talks, the members of the All-J&K PHE Daily Wagers, ITI-Trained, CP, Casual and Need-based Workers’ Union sought the release of monthly wages for casual/need-based workers and a regularisation policy.

The members appealed to the Commissioner Secretary, Public Health and Engineering (PHE) Department, to release the wages of workers of the Jammu province on the pattern of workers of the Kashmir division. They also appealed to the Chief Minister to take up the matter.

However, the members staged protest against the non-fulfillment of their demands by the government. These included releasing of monthly wages, regularisation policy of workers, insurance policy of workers and compensation in case of death and to handicapped workers.
