Chandigarh, September 12

A day after Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s rally, which witnessed low turnout, the BJP went into huddle today.

Sources revealed that a meeting was also held wherein reasons that led to low turnout at the rally were also discussed by BJP leaders.

The BJP leaders were upset with the Administration over two points - shifting of rally venue from Sector 34 to Sector 25 and tight security arrangements at the rally venue due to which people could not reach the rally venue on time, said a BJP leader.

Meanwhile, some of the leaders, who are of the rival camp of party president Sanjay Tandon, also started targeting Tandon over low turnout.

Though these leaders are not coming on record to comment against Tandon, sources said eyeing Chandigarh unit party president elections in coming months the rival camp was trying to put entire blame on Tandon for low turnout.

BJP leaders from Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh were given targets to mobilise 30,000, 30,000 and 40,000 persons, respectively, for the Prime Minister’s rally. But intelligence sources say of the 18,000 chairs laid out at the venue, 5,000 were empty.
