Moga, December 3
Hindi film actor Sonu Sood has clarified that he would not contest the Assembly elections.
He met former CM Captain Amarinder Singh in Delhi on his way to Mumbai from Moga, his home town.
Sonu told The Tribune that Amarinder was trying to meet him for the past few months and on Amarinder’s persistent requests, he had gone to meet Amarinder.
He admitted the Congress had offered him a ticket from Moga constituency, but said that he was not interested in contesting elections at a time when his entire focus was on his acting career.
The Congress has been on a sticky wicket in Moga after former MLA Vijay Sathi left the Congress and extended support to AAP along with his political guru Jagmeet Brar who was shown the door by the party. Now, the Congress is looking for a suitable candidate in Moga.
He said that SAD president Sukhbir Singh Badal had also offered him a ticket, but he turned down the request.
