A minor girl was crushed to death while her mother and brother sustained serious injuries when a speeding truck heading towards Pinjore from Kalka ran over them near here this evening.
Eyewitnesses said Urmila (30) was crossing the highway with her son Rohan (8) and daughter Mayank (5) when the mishap occurred near the railway-level crossing adjacent to the Vishal Mega Mart.
Mayank was crushed to death while Urmila and Rohan sustained serious injuries.
The police said the driver lost control over the vehicle due to a snag, following which the truck hit a road divider and ran over the woman and her children.
Passersby and locals assembled at the spot and rushed the injured to the Government Hospital, Kalka.
Doctors declared Manyak dead while Urmila and Rohan were referred to the PGI, Chandigarh. The driver managed to flee from the spot. The police have impounded the vehicle.
