Accused caught on CCTV camera

The police today procured the CCTV footage of the three accused escaping from the busy Burail market after shooting at a financier last night. One of the accused is seen running away with a rifle. 

The financier, Karan, a resident of Sector 46, was shot at thrice at the Burail market. He was rushed to the PGI where his condition is stated to be stable.

The police today procured the footage of CCTV cameras installed outside hotels and shops in Burail. The accused are seen escaping from the spot around 9.30 pm after shooting at the victim. 

Two assailants were wearing hoods to hide their face while another one had his face covered. 

The CCTV footage shows the accused escaping from the busy market with many people around. A few people are seen running from the market to save their lives. The accused were caught in a CCTV camera installed outside a hotel. 

The police suspect the vehicle in which the accused had arrived was parked outside the market. 

A case of attempt to murder has been registered against unknown persons at the Sector 34 police station. Inspector Paramjit Kaur, SHO of the Sector 34 police station, said they were investigating the matter and no arrests had been made so far. 

Police sources said the victim’s statement was recorded. Family members of the victim denied having any enmity with anyone.

Dispute with woman’s family behind crime?

The police suspect the vicitm’s dispute with a Haryana-based family was the reason behind the incident. Police sources said the victim had some dispute with a woman, wife of a constable, whose family resided in Haryana. “We are verifying the role of the woman’s family,” the sources said, adding that police teams had gone to Haryana to investigate the matter.
