The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) will launch a statewide campaign from June 24 to press their demands.

Himachal Pradesh University (HPU) campus president of the ABVP Gaurav Attri said a committee of the university authorities, college teachers and representatives of student unions should be formed before making any amendments to Rashtriya Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan (RUSA), especially the Choice Based Credit System, so that the students and the teachers are aware of the latest happenings and changes.

He said on July 24, the ABVP would submit a memorandum to Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh and on June 27, the students would lodge protest in the campus. On July 1, pamphlets would be distributed to make the people aware of the problems being faced by the students’, Attri said.

“July 2 will again witness a protest against Chief Parliamentary Secretary (Education) Neeraj Bharti, who has been silent on RUSA, fee hike and election issue, but is active on social networking sites writing derogatory remarks against BJP leaders,” he said.

“On July 5, the students will protest in all colleges and from July 10 to 25, a membership drive will be launched with a target of enrolling 1 lakh students,” Attri said.
