Set against the backdrop of Haryana, where every girl has to work in the fields as a priority over school, upcoming show Meri Durga, on Star Plus, portrays a lovely relationship between a father and daughter. It is about the journey of a girl and her struggle to fulfil the dreams of her father. Ananya Agarwal and Vicky Ahuja will be seen in the lead roles in the show that has been produced by Ravindra Gautam and Pradeep Kumar.

Vicky plays the role of Yashpal, a school peon, who plays a progressive father. He nurtures a dream beyond his means for his 12-year old daughter. Yashpal believes that education is the only way to build a better future for his daughter. Durga, as an innocent young girl, run after kites and enjoy her beautiful surroundings in Haryana.  She doesn’t like to study at all!

In Chandigarh, Vicky Ahuja shares, “Meri Durga is the story of a loveable father- daughter relationship. I have done a lot of characters with negative shades, but this is an out-and-out positive role. I believe this connects with every parent; it tugs at your heart with relatable parenting challenges. He goes against his family and society to make her daughter a better individual.” As for little Ananya, she says, “The serial is journey of a girl and her struggle to fulfill her father’s dreams. The character of Durga is very different from Ananya; growing up in Mumbai, I didn’t have the same childhood experiences that Durga has in Haryana. I love playing the role though.”

(To be aired from January 26 at 6:30 pm)
