Chill no damper for voters in Jammu

Despite chilly weather, a heavy rush was witnessed in most of the polling stations in three constituencies of Jammu city.

The chilly morning in Jammu failed to stop the voters from casting their vote. Long queues of voters were witnessed at all polling stations.

Subash Sharma, a voter from the Jammu West constituency, said: “The weather cannot stop us from casting our vote. It is a matter of giving mandate to someone for the next six years. How can we take it so lightly.”

“We need a young and energetic MLA who understands the problems of the people and takes initiative for resolving them,” said Sharma. Meanwhile, a new trend of taking a selfie with an ink-marked finger also pushed youth towards the polling stations.

Jammu youth seemed enthusiastic about exercising their franchise.

“It feels so proud and cool when we post our picture with inked finger on social networking site,” said Ayesha Mahajan, a first-time voter. “We must exercise our franchise for better governance,” she said.

This time, the voters of Jammu actively participated in the election process.

Rattan Lal, a voter from the Gandhi Nagar constituency, said: “We will go with the candidate who focuses on development.”
