5th ONGC inter-sector athletics meet begins

The 5th ONGC Inter Sector Athletics Meet was inaugurated at the KV ONGC Ground here today.

Dr Savita, IFS, Director Forest Research Institute (FRI), Dehradun, was the chief guest of the function. Once the participants assembled at the ground, the programme began with the chief guest, being welcomed by Preeta Pant Vyas GGM-head corporate administration.

This was followed by a march past by the participating teams from the seven sectors of ONGC, the Eastern Sector, Western Sector, Southern Sector, Corporate Office New Delhi, Headquarters Dehradun, Mumbai Offshore Sector and Assam.

Alok Misra, ED-Chief Employee Relations, LS Martolia, head museum, DS Rawat, and SC Jhaldiyal, in charge general administration and CSR, were present on the occasion.

Dr Savita said she was happy to be at the inaugural ceremony of the 5th ONGC Inter-Sector Athletics meet. Sport is an important physical activity, it releases mental tension, improves personality, instills positive attitude in a person and develops public relationship, she said. Everyone should spare time for sports. She wished the athletes good luck and thanked the management for giving her the opportunity to be the part of the event.

The event commenced with the hoisting of the ONGC flag by the chief guest and officially declaring the meet open with the release of balloons.

The much-awaited declaration was applauded. The participating teams led by Pakinder Singh, organising secretary of the 5th ONGC Inter-Sector Athletics Meet 2016, took the oath.
