51 more file nomination papers

Patiala: As many 51 aspirants filed nomination papers for the Assembly elections from Patiala district, taking the total number of candidates to 81. Among those who filed their papers today, four are from Nabha, five from Patiala-II, eight each from Rajpura and Ghanaur, 12 from Patiala-I, four from Samana and six from Shutrana.

As many 51 aspirants filed nomination papers for the Assembly elections from Patiala district, taking the total number of candidates to 81. Among those who filed their papers today, four are from Nabha, five from Patiala-II, eight each from Rajpura and Ghanaur, 12 from Patiala-I, four from Samana and six from Shutrana. 

Prominent amongst those who filed the papers are Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee chief Capt Amarinder Singh, SAD nominee and former Chief of Army Staff General J J Singh and APP’s Dr Balbir Singh from Patiala I. Rajpura’s BJP candidate Harjit Singh Grewal and APP’s Ashutosh Joshi filed their papers while SAD MLA Harpreet Kaur Mukhmailpur and APP’s Anu Randhwa  filed their papers from Ghanaur. 

Sukhbir gives General’s nomination a miss 

Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal, who was scheduled to address a SAD workers’ meet at a local wedding palace before the filing of nomination papers by General JJ Singh, gave the event a miss. Instead, SGPC chief Kirpal Singh Badungar and Manjit Singh GK, representing the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee, turned up for the event.  

JJ Singh arrives while performing bhangra 

General JJ Singh caught attention of everybody as he arrived at the party workers’ meeting performing bhangra and greeted his party leaders with great enthusiasm. His act sent a smile on faces of all those present at the venue.
