38 teams formed to make city open defecation-free

CHANDIGARH: In order to make the city open defecation-free (ODF) and to create awareness among residents, the Chandigarh Municipal Corporation has formed 38 teams and nominated the same number of ‘swachhata doots’ to spread awareness among the residents.

In order to make the city open defecation-free (ODF) and to create awareness among residents, the Chandigarh Municipal Corporation has formed 38 teams and nominated the same number of ‘swachhata doots’ to spread awareness among the residents.

A team comprising city Mayor Arun Sood, Joint Commissioner Rajiv Gupta and Medical Officer of Health-cum-Nodal Officer Dr PS Bhatti also visited two areas – tin shed houses in Sector 52 and Adarsh Colony, Sector 54.

Dr PS Bhatti said the ‘swachhata doots’ would work over a period of 4 to 6 months to convert identified hotspots into open defecation-free .

The teams visited the hotspots between 5 am and 8 am. During the visit, the team members made sincere efforts to mobilise people to avoid open defecation and use toilets instead.
