35 fresh dengue, 9 chikungunya cases reported from city

CHANDIGARH:Thirty-five fresh cases of dengue and nine of chikungunya were reported from Chandigarh today.

Thirty-five fresh cases of dengue and nine of chikungunya were reported from Chandigarh today. Mohali district recorded 14 fresh cases of dengue and Panchkula reported 7. The tricity total has climbed to 1,341.

Meanwhile, a surveillance drive was carried out by the anti-malaria wing of the UT Health Department at Bapu Dham Colony. Six challans were issued to repeat defaulters for maintaining mosquitogenic conditions. 

Dr Gaurav Aggarwal, anti-malaria officer, UT, said, residents were requested to avoid self-medication and consult a doctor if dengue-like symptoms were found.

Free dengue testing facility is available at the Department of Virology, PGI, Chandigarh, Department of Microbiology, GMCH-32, GMSH-16 and District Priority Lab (IDSP) at Civil Hospital Mani Majra.
