34,057 getting benefits under child schemes: DC

HAMIRPUR: Deputy Commissioner Madan Chauhan has said as many as 34,057 persons are being benefited by the Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) in the district, including 23,217 children, 6,605 mothers and 4,235 young women.

Deputy Commissioner Madan Chauhan has said as many as 34,057 persons are being benefited by the Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) in the district, including 23,217 children, 6,605 mothers and 4,235 young women.

He said apart from uplift of weaker sections of society, 71 beneficiaries were supported under Chief Minister Kanya Yojna, eight were helped under widow marriage programme, 2,484 were given financial assistance under Mother Teresa assistance scheme, 15 were given help under self-employment programme, 2,484 were supported under Beti Hai Anmol scheme and 90 persons were benefited under girl child security programme.

The DC said ICDS was a welfare programme of the Central Government, providing food, pre-school education, and primary healthcare to children under 6 years of age and their mothers. These services were being provided from Anganwadi centres. — OC
