The High Court has sentenced Kamlesh Kumar to three-year rigorous imprisonment in a drugs case. While holding him guilty for the offence, a division bench comprising Justice Dharam Chand Chaudhary and Justice Chander Bhusan Barowalia has set aside the judgment passed by the Special Judge, Kullu, whereby the accused was acquitted. It was contended by the state that the convict is a drug peddler. He was dealing in the business of drugs and selling the same to his customers, who generally are school and college going children.

The case of the prosecution is that on May, 31, 2008, a police party on patrolling duty at Shishmati, Kullu, received information that the accused having his shop near the temple of Khalari Narayan, was selling smack and during search 14-gram heroin was found from his shop. — OC
