Solan, March 19

The Arki police impounded three trucks carrying illegal khair wood near Piplughat during a naka last night.

Arki DSP Narvir Rathode said three trucks were stopped at Piplughat for carrying khair wood without any permit and since two drivers could not produce documents, the vehicles were impounded while the papers produced by the driver of the third truck appeared to be fake.

He said information was being checked with the Bilaspur DFO as the origin of the trucks had been located to that area. Since some illegal felling had been detected in that forest division, officials had banned the transportation of wood from there. He said the papers produced by the driver of truck (HP24-D-0975) were being verified. Drivers Ramlal and Ramesh Kumar were arrested. A case under Section 379 of the IPC for theft and under Sections 41 and 42 of the Forest Act has been registered against them.
