3 more arrested, 2nd car recovered

PANCHKULA: The police have arrested three more accused in connection with the brutal murder of 26 -year-old Varinder Singh Sandhu on Holi.

The police have arrested three more accused in connection with the brutal murder of 26 -year-old Varinder Singh Sandhu on Holi. The second Maruti Swift car used by the attackers was also recovered from them. Out of the nine accused, the police have arrested eight so far. However, one accused is still at large and the revolver used in the crime is yet to be recovered.

The three were arrested near the CGC College in Landran (Mohali). Kharar resident Manjot Singh (21), alias Happy, Jashanpreet (24) alias Jassan, a resident of Landran and Barminder (24), alias Poli, also a resident of Landran, were arrested and the car bearing a Kharar registration number was recovered from them.

On the night of March 13, Varinder was abducted from his house, attacked with swords, dragged by the head first from a car for around a kilometre and crushed under the wheels of the car. Varinder’s brutal death was a result of an old enmity of the accused and Varidner’s cousin Avtar.

To be presented in court today

While Manmeet, son of councillor from Ward 8 Kuljit Kaur Waraich and his cousin Harmanpreet were arrested the next day and are in police custody till Wednesday along with one more accused, two other accused are in custody till Friday. The three arrested today will be produced in court tomorrow.
