28 fresh cases take tricity dengue count to 2,624

CHANDIGARH: As many as 28 fresh cases of dengue and 12 of chikungunya were reported from the tricity and surrounding areas today.

As many as 28 fresh cases of dengue and 12 of chikungunya were reported from the tricity and surrounding areas today. This includes 18 case of dengue from Mohali, five from Chandigarh and five from Panchkula. Apart from that, five fresh cases of chikungunya were also reported from the city and seven were reported from Panchkula today. The total number of dengue cases in the tricity and surrounding areas has climbed to 2, 246 and that of chikungunya has reached 282.

Meanwhile, health officials said in order to further strengthen the preventive activities, daily fumigation was being carried out along with strengthening of field activities which included mass awareness, checking of breeding sources like coolers, containers, tyres and other sources.
