In a case of negligent driving, a 21-year-old girl died today after she fell off a private bus. The deceased has been identified as Ravina Rani, a resident of Preet Colony, Zirakpur.

Shamsher Singh, in-charge, Lehli police post, said the incident took place around 10.45 am when the girl fell on the road while getting off the bus.

Shamsher Singh said the girl’s head hit the road following which she died on the spot. She was working at Maharaja Dhaba as a manager, sources said. According to eyewitnesses, the accident occurred due to the driver’s negligence.

They alleged that the driver accelerated when the girl was getting off the bus. Police sources said the driver managed to flee the spot after the incident leaving the vehicle on the spot.

The bus bearing the registration number (PB-65-Z-9808) had been impounded, sources said. A case has been registered against the driver under Sections 279 and 304A of the IPC at the Lehli police post and efforts were on to nab him.

The body of the deceased was handed over to her family.
