200 survey forms sold for EWS, LIG houses

CHANDIGARH: More than 200 forms were sold on Monday as the Chandigarh Housing Board (CHB) began a survey to identify those belonging to economically weaker sections (EWS) and lower income groups (LIG), who will be provided affordable houses under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY).

More than 200 forms were sold on Monday as the Chandigarh Housing Board (CHB) began a survey to identify those belonging to economically weaker sections (EWS) and lower income groups (LIG), who will be provided affordable houses under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY). Those living in urban areas of Chandigarh can apply for the scheme.

The CHB had a tough time managing the rush. Sufficient number of the forms were made available only in the afternoon. Meanwhile, people were seen scrambling for the forms at the counters.

Anil, a resident of Colony No.4, said he had to wait for an hour to get the form. An official said sufficient number of forms would be available from tomorrow.

The demand survey form can be downloaded from the CHB website or it can be obtained from the reception counter of the board at Block C, Sector 9-D, Chandigarh, at a cost of Rs 10 . The survey will continue till 20 April.

Meanwhile, the CHB has decided to send the applications it received on the PMAY website for verification to the Estate Office. Approximately 33,000 people have already applied on the official website of the scheme before the CHB officially launched it. An official of the board said those found eligible for the scheme would be included under the ongoing survey .
