200 international players will battle at taekwondo meet

DEHRADUN: Around 200 international players will battle for the 4th International Taekwondo Championship slated to begin on December 20 at Pestle Weed College.

Around 200 international players will battle for the 4th International Taekwondo Championship slated to begin on December 20 at Pestle Weed College.

The championship will be played under junior boys, junior girls and senior black belt category.

While addressing mediapersons here today, Suryakant Dhasmana, president, Uttarakhand Sports Taekwondo Association, informed that 28 players from Indian team would participate in the championship.

As many as 10 boys and 10 girls will participate in the junior level while eight players will take part in the senior level.

Players from Afghanistan, Bhutan, Nepal, Pakistan, Iran, Kazakhstan, Malaysia and Mauritius will reach the venue today for the championship, informed GM Jimmy R Jagtiani, secretary general, Taekwondo Federation of India.

Javed Khan, organising secretary, Uttarakhand Sports Taekwondo Association, said the event would be a golden opportunity for players and help them to grow in the sport in the country.
