Panchkula, January 19

An unknown person allegedly abandoned two minor girls in Sector 16. The girls, aged 16 and 17, said they were brought to Panchkula by their paternal uncle for work, but he left them alone in Sector 16 last night. The girls have failed to disclosed anything else so far.

The girls are at present at Bal Sadan, Sector 12-A. District Child Welfare Officer Virendra Kumar said he received a call from Congress leader Ranjeeta Mehta in the evening that two girls had been brought to her by a social worker. They were sitting in a park in Sector 16 and looked tense. Kumar reached the spot and questioned the girls, but they were not even able to answer who their parents were and where they hailed from.
