2 more die of scrub typhus

Two more patients died of scrub typhus at Dr Rajendra Prasad Govt Medical College (DRPGMC), Tanda, in the past 24 hours, taking the death toll to nine.

Vinay Mahajan, Medical Superintendent, DRPGMC, said Reeta Devi (13) of Chamba district’s Nagori village was admitted to the hospital yesterday at 8.30 pm and she died this morning.

He said Shaloo Devi (59) of Chamba district’s Manzir village was also admitted last evening and died late at night. He said six patients had died of the disease at the hospital earlier this month and one death was reported in August. — OC
