Hisar, October 8

The police on Wednesday arrested two persons in a case of sexual abuse of girls at Shri Krishan Pranami Bal Sewa Ashram in the district’s Kaimri village.

Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Bhagwan Dass, who is heading the Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the case, said the arrested accused were Gopal and Vinod.

Vinod is an inmate of the ashram, while Gopal is associated with the ashram and has been a frequent visitor.

The police on Wednesday added Sections 376 (rape) of the IPC and Section 4 (sexual assault on minor) of the Prevention of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act to the FIR registered on October 2.

The DSP said the police got the medical examination of one of the victims. The other victim, who turned out to be a minor on the basis of her educational certificate, refused to undergo the medical examination.

The police said more persons were likely to be included in the investigation and they could be interrogated.

The police had registered the case on the complaint of the Deputy Commission on October 2 under various sections of the IPC and POCSO Act.

The DC had lodged the FIR on the basis of a report of the Woman and Child Development (WCD) Department which reported minor girls were sexually abused in the ashram.

A team of the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR), meanwhile, will visit the Hisar ashram for inquiring into the case tomorrow.

The five-member team will conduct the inquiry on October 9 and 10 and sought the relevant record about the ashram, including details of the children, medical examination report of the girls and an inquiry report from the district administration.

The team comprises former Joint Secretary Rakesh Bhartiya, Supreme Court advocate Anil Varma, NCPCR consultants Nidhi Sharma and JB Oli, and technical expert Rajni Chadha.
