A 15-year-old boy allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself from a ceiling fan at his residence at Maloya this morning. The police have recovered a suicide note from the spot.

The police said the deceased's mother was at home while his father was out for work when the boy hung himself.

According to the police, the deceased has been identified as Gaurav. He is survived by his mother and father. The deceased's father is a vegetable vendor in Maloya.

The mother of the deceased told the police that she was on the ground floor while Gaurav had gone to the first floor of the house in the morning.

She found his door locked from inside and called the neighbours, who broke open the door and found Gaurav hanging.

The police were called to the spot and the deceased was rushed to Government Multi-Specialty Hospital, Sector 16, where doctors declared him brought dead.

Gaurav had got a compartment in the Class X examination following which he was depressed for the past some time.

Meanwhile, the police have kept the body at the mortuary. After conducting the postmortem, the body will be handed over to the family.
