‘No work, no pay’ imposed on patwaris

The Uttarakhand government today decided to apply the ‘no-work, no-pay’ rule against striking patwaris who have been boycotting police work since August last year.

The government was forced to act upon court directives, asking the government to immediately act as the police work in the hill districts was being badly affected.

Patwaris in the hill districts have the dual responsibility of revenue work and maintaining law and order. Since August, patwaris had been boycotting the police work in support of their demands, which include filling of vacant patwari posts, facility of TA/DA and demand for a Revenue Police Act.

The ‘no-work, no-pay’ rule will be effective from Monday.
