The star cast of upcoming Punjabi movie “Myself Pendu” was in the city today.

City based actor Jaswinder Bhalla is playing a double role in the movie. He was here along with other actors including Preet Harpal and Ather Habib and director Surinder Rihal.

Bhalla said he is playing the role of a submissive man who is dominated by his wife and also by his son. In another role, he plays the role of a Haryanvi man, who speaks in Haryanvi accent.

Bhalla said the character stays in mind of the audience because of interesting ‘takiya kalams’ that both characters reel off several times during the movie.

The movie is a directorial debut for Rihal, who has acting in several Punjabi movies earlier. He has also produced the movie and acted as well.

The movie is about two youths who want to sell of the agricultural land in order to earn money to lead a good lifestyle, but they do not want to work hard enough. The lead character in the movie is played by Preet Harpal along with Habib.

“It is a complete entertainer, but the message is clear that only hard work leads to a good and satisfactory life and one should work hard to fulfill one’s desires,” said Rihal.

Bhalla said: “It is good that the film makers in Punjabi film industry are conscious of making family movies and have kept vulgarity at bay in most of the movies.”
