GURGAON: Heavy rain today left the city waterlogged and brought traffic to a standstill for some time. The city received 40 mm of rainfall that waterlogged areas in Manesar, Udyog Vihar, Hero Honda Chowk on old Gurgaon Road. Vehicles came to a halt as commuters waded through knee-deep water.

Heavy rain today left the city waterlogged and brought traffic to a standstill for some time. The city received 40 mm of rainfall that waterlogged areas in Manesar, Udyog Vihar, Hero Honda Chowk on old Gurgaon Road. Vehicles came to a halt as commuters waded through knee-deep water.

The National Authority of India pumped out to restore traffic movement at Hero Honda Chowk within 40 minutes. Over 250 cops were seen manning roads and ensuring smooth movement of traffic.

“We were ready to deal with rains this time. There were reports of waterlogging at many places affecting traffic movement but we managed to keep things moving,” said, Commissioner of Police Sandeep Khirwar.

Deputy Commissioner TL Satyaprakash, said, “The authorities were on alert and we worked in coordination with the police. Water was pumped out from streets and at Hero Honda Chowk in about half an hour. As far as waterlogging is concerned, we need to address the underlying reasons but that will take some time.”
